Guwahati: The five-time world champion is eyeing the 6th medal in the on-going World Boxing Championship and there is no doubt that the Indian boxer will make that possible. Mary Kom, who played her semi-final bout against North Korea’s Kim Hyang-Mi at the KD Jadhav Stadium in New Delhi today, defeated her opponent in a fierce fight and stormed into the final.
Competing in the 48 kg category of the AIBA World Women’s Boxing Championship, Mary Kom showed an outstanding performance in the semi-final on Thursday. Mary might be outdone by her opponent’s reach and bigger physical presence, but her experience is good enough to clinch that victory which she well deserves.
Mary was seen in full force and determined to seal a win as she played with great dexterity, moved quickly on her feet and avoided a flurry of punches from her opponent to keep scoring points. In the second round, the Manipuri boxer used both her arms to deliver crucial punches on her opponent.
After defeating her opponent, Mary said, “I will try my best in the final.” Speaking about her opponent in final she adds, “I have fought with this girl in Poland and I have beaten her. I will try my best inside the ring.”
With her triumph in the semi-final, all eyes are on her final bout now as she is right on her track to win a gold for her nation.
