Itanagar: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has urged the state government to strictly enforce the Teachers’ Transfer and Posting Policy of 2019 to ensure equitable distribution of educators across Arunachal Pradesh.

In a representation submitted to the Education Minister, ANSU expressed concern over the unchecked transfer and posting of teachers, which it said has led to an imbalance, overcrowding in urban schools and shortages in rural areas.

The union highlighted that many teachers prefer postings in ‘soft belt’ areas, leaving remote schools severely understaffed. To address this, ANSU proposed that teacher transfers be conducted only once a year, at the beginning of the academic session, and based solely on actual needs of schools.

Additionally, ANSU called for a halt to the engagement of teachers in non-teaching duties at the Directorate and other establishments. It described such assignments as unnecessary and demanded that all such teachers be recalled to classrooms. The union also pushed for fair deployment of clerical and support staff in the education department, an increase in students’ stipends, and enforcement of the Arunachal Pradesh Tenancy Act, 2022.
