ITANAGAR: In a proactive move to enhance public safety and monitoring, CCTV cameras have been installed in and around Yupia, the headquarters of Papum Pare district in Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative makes efficient use of equipment originally procured for the recent assembly elections, which had remained unused until now.

Deputy commissioner Jiken Bomjen while speaking on the occasion emphasised the strategic significance of the installations.

“With important infrastructure like the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, the courts, and the DC Office tri-junction, commonly used as a dharna point, the need for surveillance through CCTV cameras was inevitable,” he said.

The installation aims to deter illegal and anti-social activities in the area while strengthening overall security.

Given the high footfall and regular public events in the vicinity, the move is expected to ensure better safety and serve as a reliable tool for continuous monitoring. The step reflects the district administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order while maximising the use of available resources for the benefit of the public.
