ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 51,799 with 144 more people testing positive for the infection during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the toll tally in the frontier State increased to 254, as two more persons succumbed to the infection in the past two days.

A 65-year-old man from Changlang and another man of 40 years of age from Namsai died on Tuesday due to COVID-Pneumonia. Both the persons died while undergoing treatment at health facilities, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 29, followed by Papumpare (24) Lower Subansiri (18), West Kameng (12), Upper Siang (9) and Anjaw at 8, Jampa said adding, fresh infections were also reported from the other districts of the State.

Among the fresh cases, 139 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests, three through RT-PCR and two through the TrueNAT method, said the official, adding that 73 people were with symptoms. The active cases in the state now stand at 1,685.

As many as 220 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 49,860.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stand at 96.26 per cent while the active percentage stands at 3.25 and the positivity rate at 3.58 per cent, added the official said.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 410, followed by Lower Subansiri (170), Papumpare (158) and West Kameng with 103 cases.

Altogether, 10,15,700 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 4,022 on Wednesday, added Dr Jampa. Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 9,19,946 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
