Arunachal Pradesh: Naharlagun Police Seize 6.5kg Cannabis, Arrest One

Naharlagun: The Naharlagun police apprehended a 35-year-old man, Rage Kena, and seized over 6.5 kg of cannabis.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Kena’s rented accommodation in the Papunallah area of Naharlagun. During the search, they recovered 33.4 grams of cannabis initially. Further investigation led to the discovery of the larger stash of 6.5 kg concealed in a white sack.

The accused, a resident of Giba village in Upper Subansiri district, has been arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Naharlagun police have intensified their efforts to curb drug abuse in the region under ‘Operation Dawn’. This successful operation underscores their commitment to ensuring public safety and well-being.

Naharlagun SP, Mihin Gambo informed that during a routine patrolling, the police received information regarding the storage of cannabis by a suspected drug peddler in Papu Nallah. Acting swiftly, a police team raided the house and seized cannabis from the accused.

The raid was carried out in presence of Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Khoda Bath. The accused, Rage Kena is of Giba village of Upper Subansiri district and currently residing at Papunalla, Naharlagun. He said a case was registered under Naharlagun PS Case No. 150/24 U/S 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. Further investigations are underway, he added.
