ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 50,605 with 233 more people tested positive for the infection during the last 24 hours. The toll in the State increased to 248 as two more persons, including a woman, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

A 57-year-old man from Lohit died at a hospital in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Sunday due to COVID Pneumonia and consumptive coagulopathy, while a lady of 50 years age from Anjaw, died at a health facility in Lohit district on Monday due to COVID Pneumonia.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of new cases at 73, followed by Lower Subansiri (29), Papumpare (24), Changlang (23), Upper Subansiri (11), Lower Dibang Valley and West Kameng at 7 each cases.

A total of six fresh cases each were also reported from Namsai and East Siang, five each from Tawang, East Kameng, Kamle, Lower Siang and Shi-Yomi, four each from Pakke Kessang, Lohit and Leparada, three from Anjaw, two each from West Siang, Tirap and Upper Siang and one from Dibang Valley.

Among the fresh cases, 210 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 19 through RT-PCR and 4 by TrueNat methods, the official said adding, 106 people were with symptoms.

The active cases in the state now stand at 2,536, he said. As many as 301 patients were cured of the disease on Tuesday taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 47,821.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients stand at 94.50 per cent while the active percentage stands at 5.01 and the positivity rate at 4.77 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 668, followed by Lower Subansiri (335), Papumpare (224), West Kameng (177), Lohit (139) Tawang (109) and East Siang at 102 cases.

Altogether 9,86,281 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state so far, including 4,882 on Tuesday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that 8,91,090 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
