ITANAGAR: The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) has condemned the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Prabash Doley from Assam’s Dhemaji district and demanded strict punishment for the accused along with compensation for the victim’s family.

The incident occurred on June 18 at an under-construction site near the Bharat Petroleum outlet in Chimpu, near here, where Doley was working as a labourer.

The TMPK in a statement on Friday said that the victim was allegedly attacked with a machete by 26-year-old Tai John, who runs a car wash opposite the site.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over construction noise. Doley’s body was later found in a roadside drain, bearing fatal injuries.

The Capital Police swiftly arrested the accused the same night. A case has been registered at the Chimpu Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Arunachal Pradesh state Forensic Science Laboratory examined the crime scene, and a post-mortem was conducted at TRIHMS, Naharlagun.

The TMPK called on the chief minister Pema Khandu and the state police to ensure justice by awarding life imprisonment to the accused.

The student body also demanded adequate compensation for Doley’s family and appealed to the public to maintain peace and allow the investigation to proceed without disruption.
