NIRJULI: Deputy Commissioner-ICR Talo Potom on Tuesday attended the Boori-Boot Yullo celebration organized by Boori-Boot Yullo celebration committee (BBYCC), Itanagar held at Nirjuli general ground near here.

Speaking to the reporters, Potom, while greeting the people, said that the festival is for everyone, irrespective of tribe and religion. He said the festival brings togetherness. He, however, appealed to everyone to wear masks and follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior while celebrating the festival. Potom also highlighted the importance of various rituals being performed and also the reason behind the celebration of Boori-Boot Yullo.

Meanwhile, BBYCC general secretary Mirnia Game said that usually the main festival is celebrated on February 6. However, the committee has come up to celebrate it in a grand way for six days. He said to promote the tradition and culture of the tribe, the committee has directed everyone to participate in their traditional attire. He also ensured to check the high price rate of local foods being sold in the stalls.
