COVID-19: Arunachal logs 164 new cases, three casualties

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh witnessed a dip in COVID-19 infection with 164 more persons tested positive for the virus, pushing the total caseload in the northeastern state to 45,867, a senior health official said here on Monday.

The death toll in the State rose to 216 with three more persons including a woman, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, he said.

The State's cumulative COVID positivity rate stands at 4.39 per cent. The State government imposed additional containment measures, including an extension of curfew timings by two hours, in nine districts that recorded over a 10 per cent positivity rate in the last week.

The State had reported the highest single-day spike of 566 cases on July 13 and 515 infections on July 25.

The Capital Complex region registered the highest number of new cases at 82, followed by East Siang and Lohit at 9 each, West Siang, West Kameng and Papumpare recorded eight cases each, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Five fresh cases each were also reported from Upper Subansiri, Leparada and Kamle, four each from Tawang and East Kameng, three each from Lower Subansiri and Longding, two each from Changlang, Lower Dibang Valley, Pakke Kessang, Tirap and Upper Siang and one from Namsai district, the official said.
