ITANAGAR: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh arrested a drug peddler from Bordumsa town in Changlang district and recovered suspected heroin from his possession, a senior police official from the district said on Sunday. Based on specific inputs, a joint team of Bordumsa police and CRPF conducted a swift and well-calibrated raid at Bijoypur-I area on Saturday and apprehended one suspected drug peddler identified as Josh Ananda Chakma (29), a resident of the area.

On spot interrogation, he revealed that he was carrying contraband heroin in his backpack. Upon a physical search in the presence of independent witnesses, the joint team of security forces recovered approximately 207 gm of heroin packed in 17 soap cases from his possession, Changlang Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo informed. The team also seized one motorcycle, two mobile handsets, and cash worth over Rs 12,000 from his possession. A criminal case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Bordumsa police station, and the drug peddler was arrested, the SP added.
