Farmers trained in modern fisheries and cooperative development in Arunachal

Farmers from four districts of Arunachal Pradesh take part in a fisheries training at Tezu, promoting sustainable aquaculture and cooperative livelihoods.

Itanagar: In a major push towards sustainable aquaculture and cooperative-led livelihood development, over 150 farmers and stakeholders from Lohit, Anjaw, Lower Dibang Valley, and Namsai districts of Arunachal Pradesh, participated in a one-day fisheries training programme held at Tezu in Lohit district, on Thursday. The event aimed at capacity-building for fish farmers and cooperatives, with a focus on modern fishery practices, financial support schemes, and the role of cooperatives in enhancing productivity. Organized by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in collaboration with the Gurugram-based Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC), the training was conducted with active support from the fisheries and cooperation departments of Lohit district. Lohit deputy commissioner K N Damo, urged participants to leverage the full range of NCDC schemes and training opportunities to boost income and livelihood.
