Itanagar: An individual operating a large-scale forgery set up in Udaipur-III village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district has been arrested, police said.
Acting on reliable inputs, a police team led by Diyun police station officer in-charge inspector Ongsa Ronrang, in collaboration with the Assam Rifles Dumba, arrested the accused, Changlang Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu said on Tuesday. He said the accused has been identified as Mongal Shanti Chakma @ Bimol Shanti Chakma.
Security forces launched a coordinated search using the e-Sakshya app and in presence of local witnesses, the official said.
The SP said multiple fake birth and income certificates with forged signatures/stamps of Diyun extra assistant commissioner (EAC); Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates and Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) suspected to be forged and resembling to have originated from Tripura; fake CBSE admit cards and HLSC result sheets in the name of the accused; fake residential certificates including one bearing fake sign and stamp of Diyun EAC; three counterfeit rubber stamps labelled ‘Sub-Divisional Magistrate’, Chawngte, Mizoram; electronic equipment – laptop with suspected digital forgeries, mobile phone with incriminating chats, printers, lamination gear, a PDF file resembling forged correspondence from the Changlang deputy commissioner were seized during the raid.
