Goalpara: Keeping in view the upcoming Rongali Bihu celebrations in the state, the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) has organized the ‘Asomi Bohagi Mela 2025.’

The mela will be held from April 9 to April 12 at Bhalukdubi Salbari LP School.

The fair will be inaugurated on April 9 by Khanindra Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara. The flag hoisting ceremony will be conducted by Mriganga Choudhury, Chief Executive Officer of the Goalpara Zilla Parishad.

Women development blocks under ASRLM, Goalpara, will participate and display a wide range of products made by members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

A total of 30 sales stalls will showcase various traditional handloom products, food items, bamboo crafts, organic fertilizers, pesticides, vegetables, and other local produce — which will be the key attractions of this Bohagi Mela.

With support from different departmental schemes and household initiatives, it is expected that many traditional items will be revived at the fair.

Notably, several women have expressed their enthusiasm to step out of their kitchens and present their products in the market during the mela.

Every day, from 10am to 1pm, there will be various inaugural programmes and discussion sessions.

From 1pm to 4pm, traditional and engaging competitions will be held, focusing on the cultural, mental, and physical development of SHG members and their families — including traditional dress shows and indigenous food competitions.
