BOKAKHAT: In harmony with the global celebration, the 11th International Yoga Day was observed in Bokakhat on Saturday under the initiative of the National AYUSH Mission, Assam, in collaboration with the Bokakhat Sub-Divisional Administration. The event took place at the open auditorium of Bokakhat Higher Secondary School and was held under the global theme, “One Earth, One Health.”

Coinciding with the live broadcast of the central programme from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh — where the Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part — yoga asanas and pranayama sessions were conducted for the participants in Bokakhat as well.

The programme saw active participation from Bokakhat Sub-Divisional Officer Shivani Jarnagal, Circle Officers, Assistant Commissioners, and officials and staff from various government departments. Students from educational institutions, local journalists, members of sports organizations, and local residents also joined the event, making it a vibrant and inclusive celebration of health, unity, and well-being.

TINSUKIA: The 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Tinsukia district at a grand event organized at Manav Kalyan Puja Bhawan, located in the heart of the city. The event highlighted this year’s official theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” which promotes the vital connection between personal well-being and the health of the planet, advocating a sustainable lifestyle through the regular practice of yoga.

The celebration was led by Tinsukia MLA Sanjoy Kishan, who actively participated in the Common Yoga Protocol session. In his address to the large gathering, which included students, officials, and members of the public, Kishan emphasized the holistic benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.

Also present at the event was District Commissioner Swapneel Paul, who urged the citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routine, rather than limiting it to a one-day celebration. He echoed the event’s theme, stressing the importance of integrating personal health with environmental sustainability.

The event witnessed participation from various sectors, including Tinsukia Municipal Board Chairman Pulak Chetia, officials from the district administration, heads of various government departments, NGO volunteers, and members of social organizations such as Art of Living, Patanjali, and Brahmakumaris. NCC cadets, CRPF personnel, and students from different schools and colleges across Tinsukia also took part in the program.

A yoga session was conducted by Patanjali Yoga Samity, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the yoga competition held earlier. The event concluded with a message of unity, health, and sustainability through the consistent practice of yoga.

KHERONI: Along with the rest of the nation, the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at 5:30 am on Saturday at the Sarsing Teron Langkung Habe Multipurpose Sports Complex in Diphu. The event was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), bringing together participants from all walks of life in alignment with statewide celebrations across Assam.

The district-level celebration witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including the Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang; MLAs Darsing Ronghang (Howraghat) and Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu); Members of the Autonomous Council (MACs); District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi; Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Saikia; and other senior officials.

A parallel programme was also held at Hamren, the district headquarters of West Karbi Anglong, where Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Amarsing Tisso took part, alongside government officials, students, police and defense personnel, and members of the general public. The broad participation reflected a shared commitment to health, discipline, and national unity.

PATHSALA: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated at the Bajali DC office premises under the initiative of the National AYUSH Mission, Assam, in collaboration with the Bajali District Administration.

The event began at 6 am, welcoming DC Mridul Kumar Das. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address was broadcast live at 6:30 am. Yoga trainer Khanin Roy led a session with officers and staff.

Prizes were distributed to winners of the June 14 yoga competition. Notable attendees included ADCs Pranjal Pratim Konwar, Urmi Medhi and AYUSH Coordinator Dr. Jayanta Khataniar, among others. Participants were awarded certificates and mementoes.

KOKRAJHAR: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and active participation in the districts of Kokrajhar and Chirang.

At the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) indoor stadium, the Kokrajhar district administration, in collaboration with the Patanjali Yog Committee, organized a special programme to mark the occasion. This year’s celebration revolved around the central theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary praised the efforts of the district administration and expressed his happiness at being part of the event. Emphasizing the philosophy of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” he highlighted the vital role of yoga in nurturing a healthier and more harmonious society. “Nothing is beyond good health. When health is good, everything else becomes good,” he remarked.

Earlier, in her welcome speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kabita Deka stressed that yoga is more than just physical exercise — it is a lifestyle that promotes unity, balance, and overall well-being.

As part of the nationwide celebrations, live streaming of the Mega Yoga Day event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Andhra Pradesh was arranged at the venue. This was followed by a mass yoga demonstration led by a certified instructor, where participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) in unison. Several dignitaries attended the event, including Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Smt. Masanda M. Pertin, IAS; ADC Subhram Aditya Bora; other government officials; NGO representatives; students; and members of the public.

To further encourage participation, certificates were presented to winners of the district-level yoga competitions, recognizing their dedication and discipline. National-level medal winners from Kokrajhar were also felicitated for their outstanding achievements and the pride they bring to the district.

Meanwhile, the Chirang district administration also celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Rangamanch on Saturday. The event was organized by the National Ayush Mission, Assam, in collaboration with the District Administration, Chirang.

MANGALDAI: The inmates of Mangaldai District Jail too joined the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and positivity on Saturday morning. A total of 30 inmates actively took part in the celebration, which aimed to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the practice of yoga.

The programme commenced with an enlightening session on the importance of yoga, emphasizing its benefits for physical health, mental clarity, and inner peace. The jail superintendent extended a warm welcome to the inmates and commended their enthusiastic participation. He encouraged them to make yoga a part of their daily routine to lead a healthier, more balanced life, expressing happiness at the keen interest shown by the participants.

To add further significance to the event, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Darrang, Mangaldai, organised a special lecture on Legal Awareness and Prisoners’ Rights. The session focused on the provisions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) schemes and the availability of free legal aid. The objective was to empower inmates with awareness about their legal entitlements and the support systems accessible to them.

The day’s programme not only fostered wellness among the inmates but also reinforced their understanding of their rights and avenues for legal assistance.

JAMUGURIHAT: On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), Assam Rifles organized a Mass Yoga Demonstration on Saturday at Lokra, on the picturesque banks of the Kameng River.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from troops, reflecting the spirit of wellness and discipline. A total of 152 personnel, including 6 officers, 13 JCOs, 120 OR and 13 families, took part in the session, demonstrating unity, mindfulness and commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The serene riverside setting further enhanced the essence of the event, marking a successful celebration of IDY 2025.

TEZPUR: The Sonitpur district administration, in collaboration with the District Health Department, celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 with great enthusiasm today at Tezpur. The district-level celebration, organised under the banner of “Yoga Sangam” — a signature event of this year’s IDY — was held at the auditorium of Tezpur College, attracting participants from all walks of life in a vibrant display of wellness and community harmony.

Nandita Gorlosa, Cabinet Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, attended the event as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the importance of yoga in achieving a balanced and healthy lifestyle. She was joined by Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Ankur Bharali, Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha, Chairperson of Tezpur Development Authority, along with representatives from the Police, District Sports Office, SSB, NDRF, student groups, and various government departments.

The programme began at 6:00 am with a welcome address by the Deputy Commissioner, who spoke on this year’s theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” This was followed by the chief guest’s speech and a live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam. A mass yoga session, following the Common Yoga Protocol, commenced at 7:00 am and was followed by a guided meditation. A prize distribution ceremony was also held to felicitate winners of the district-level yoga competitions across four age groups.

This vibrant celebration reaffirmed Sonitpur’s dedication to promoting both physical and mental well-being through the practice of yoga and inclusive community participation. Simultaneously, co-district level events were held in Dhekiajuli and Naduar under the supervision of the respective Co-District Commissioners. In Dhekiajuli, the session took place at Bhotpara Stadium, while in Naduar it was conducted at Jamuguri Indoor Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) also marked the occasion with a dynamic celebration on its premises. The event, in line with the “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” theme, saw active participation from faculty, staff, and trainees.
