BOKAKHAT: Following the announcement of the dates for the 2025 Panchayat elections by the State Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct has already been enforced in the Gaon Panchayat areas under Bokakhat sub-division. For the upcoming Panchayat elections, the total number of voters in Bokakhat sub-division stands at 1,39,089. Among them, 68,847 are male voters and 70,242 are female voters.
A total of 204 polling stations will be set up in the Bokakhat sub-division. There are 4 Zila Parishad constituencies and 1 Anchalik Panchayat in this region. Elections will be held in all 20 Gaon Panchayats under the sub-division.
According to the schedule released by the State Election Commission, Panchayat elections in Bokakhat will be held in the first phase on May 2. Voting will take place from 7:30am to 4:30pm on that day. The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8:00am on May 11.
Nomination papers will be accepted from April 3 to April 11 between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on April 12, and the list of valid candidates will be published on the same day. Candidates can withdraw their nominations by 3:00 PM on April 17. After that, the final list of contesting candidates will be released.
The expenditure limits have been set at Rs 25,000 for Gaon Panchayat members, Rs 2,50,000 for Anchalik Panchayat members, and Rs 10,00,000 for Zila Parishad candidates. This time, voting will be conducted using ballot papers.
