BOKAKHAT: A seminar on the topic ‘One Nation, One Election’ was held on Sunday at the Sahitya Sabha Bhavan Bokakhat under the initiative of the Bokakhat Bar Association.
Bijon Mahajan, Vice-President of the All Assam Lawyers’ Association, attended as the chief guest and stated that the ‘One Nation, One Election’ system would accelerate the country’s economy while also ensuring a secure political future. He also mentioned that discussions were taking place at various levels across the country regarding the report submitted by the committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
The first elections in India in 1952 were conducted through this process, and the system remained in place until 1967. Therefore, reintroducing ‘One Nation, One Election’ will yield positive outcomes in political, social, and economic aspects, he said.
