DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh District Health Society organized the Seventh Jan Aushadhi Day at the Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra here in Chowkidingee on Friday. Member of Parliament from Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency Pradan Baruah attended the event as the chief guest.
Notably, under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, these Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established to provide the general public with affordable generic medicines. The quality standards of medicines available at these centers are equivalent to those found in the market.
These centres offer around 1,800 different types of medicines, including those for diabetes, acidity, and high blood pressure, along with 285 surgical items such as sanitary napkins and masks.
The event was also attended by Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Saikat Patra, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Sanghamitra Baruah, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Trishna Bora, Chief Executive Member of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Tankeswar Sonowal, along with beneficiaries of the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, other distinguished guests, local residents, and officials from the health department.
