Assam: ABSU and BIFA discuss strengthening ties

KOKRAJHAR: The All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and the Bhutan India Friendship Association (BIFA) representatives discussed the strengthening of mutual understanding and relationship between India and Bhutan from across the border very recently.

ABSU President Dipen Boro said that he had the privilege to accord a warm welcome to the Vice-President of BIFA Goob Sonam Drukpa and General Secretary Taugay Chedup, at Udalguri district ABSU office as per their scheduled tour from Sandrup Dzongkar, Bhutan recently. He said that the meeting between the ABSU and the BIFA to carry forward the mutual understanding and relationship between the two neighbours was fruitful. Boro said that a ten member-delegation of BIFA from Bhutan and ABSU representatives laid the importance of strengthening ties, understanding, and harmonious living as the Bodoland region shares 267 km of international boundaries in Assam, India.

Boro said that the discussion was highly meaningful and cohesive. The Bhutan-India relationship will continue in the long run with respect and understanding from both sides, he said, and extended his gratitude for their visit remembering the goodwill between the regions.
