GOLAGHAT: The All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), Golaghat district committee, has demanded prompt action from the authorities regarding the recent serial killings in Burha Gaon under Badulipar in Golaghat district.

In this connection, the union submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police, Golaghat, on Saturday. The memorandum demands stringent punishment for the culprits and necessary measures to ensure justice for the victims.

ATASU district president Pankaj Gogoi extended condolences to the bereaved families and called for exemplary punishment for those responsible. Leaders including Gautam Lahon and Diganta Gogoi criticized the police administration for allegedly failing to act despite earlier incidents.

The union put forth several demands, such as a fast-track trial for the case, a thorough investigation into the accused and their family, a probe into the possible involvement of third-party forces, the establishment of a police outpost in Badulipar, and a request to the Golaghat Lawyers’ Association not to represent the accused. They also demanded a crackdown on illegal liquor and gambling dens in the area. The union warned that failure to meet these demands would lead to a mass movement.
