BOKAKHAT: AGP President, Bokakhat MLA, and senior minister in the Assam Government Atul Bora today participated in the election rally of AGP candidate Mamoni Gazalu, who is contesting from Ward No. 2 of the Bokakhat Zila Parishad constituency. Bora expressed confidence in Gazalu’s victory but emphasized the importance of winning by a record margin.
Mamoni Gazalu is the former president of the Rojabari Gaon Panchayat. In the last Panchayat elections, she contested from the Congress party and, despite strong opposition, emerged victorious from the only seat Congress won out of the 20 Panchayats in Bokakhat. However, she later joined the AGP and has been serving actively and with dedication.
A retired and accomplished teacher, Mamoni Gazalu has been working for the empowerment of tea garden women for over 35 years. She organized women from 770 tea gardens across Assam and formed the Assam Tea Tribe Women’s Association, taking on the role of founding President. For her contributions, she was recently honoured with the ‘Mangri Orang Social Service Award,’ named after a female martyr of the tea community's freedom movement.
Jagat Kalita, President of AGP Bokakhat constituency, was also present at today’s rally.
