Bilasipara: Shankardev Shishu and Vidya Niketan, Bilasipara, celebrates its 31st foundation day, remembering the contributions of Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev on Saturday.
The programme began with the hoisting of the flag by former legislator of Bilasipara East and Chairman of Assam Government Marketing Corporation Ltd, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singhi.
In his speech, Dr. Singhi highlighted the role of Shankardev Shishu and Vidya Niketan in shaping the moral character of students. He praised the efforts of the teachers, students, and management committee for the institution’s progress.
The principal, Shibaji Karmakar, spoke about the institution’s history and achievements since its establishment in 1995. He mentioned that the students of the institution have made a mark in various fields, both within the country and abroad.
The president of the management committee, Dr. Haricharan Das, presided over the function and spoke about Shankardev’s contributions to Indian knowledge and culture. He highlighted how Shankardev travelled across India for 12 years. He gained knowledge and spread it through literature and culture.
Other dignitaries, including the principal of Bilasipara College, Dr. Biswajit Biswas, and social worker Ganeshmal Sethia, also addressed the gathering. To mark the occasion, 31 seedlings were planted, and several social workers and businessmen were felicitated, followed by a colourful cultural programmes. The programme was conducted by Acharjya Barnali Kalita and Acharya Manoj Kumar Deka.
