Meet of Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan concludes in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: The two-day-long 4th biennial conference of Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan in Sivasagar district held at Gaurisagar Central Public Hall was successfully concluded on Sunday. The first day programme started with the hoisting of the flag by Muhi Kanta Nath, president of Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilani, followed by smriti tarpan performed by Dr. Soneswar Borah, executive president of Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan. Later a delegates meeting was held under the chairmanship of Muhi Kanta Nath.

The meeting was inaugurated by Robin Chandra Hazarika, former headmaster, Khanamukh Girls High School. In the meeting, a new committee of Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan has been formed, headed by Dr. Soneswar Borah as president, Probin Chandra Gogoi as executive president, Ghana Kanta Bharali, Hori Sadhan Das, Robin Hazarika, Mohendra Borah, and Pabitra Kumar Dutta and Sugandhi Sadhanidar as vice presidents, Thanu Bharali as general secretary, and Monjit Phukan as assistant general secretary. On the concluding day, an open session was held under the chairmanship of Mukhi Kanta Nath. The meeting was inaugurated by Deben Baruah, president, Sivasagar Zila Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan. In the meeting, Dembi Ram Panging, Chairman, All India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA), Nazira/Sivasagar branch, and Dilip Saikia, Secretary, Sivasagar Zila Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan, took part as distinguished guests. Addressing the gathering, Dembi Ram Panging said that senior citizens are an institution whose experience can lead the new generation.

On the eve of the conference, a souvenir Sanjivani edited by Surjya Kumar Dutta was published, and it was unveiled by Jibamoni Nath, Assistant Professor, Jhanji H.N.S. College. In the meeting, Gaurisagar Jestha Nagarik Sanmilan conferred the Pragya Sirumoni award to Tukheswar Borthakur, veteran educationist and former principal of Gaurisagar HS Industrial Institute. Besides in the meeting, ten numbers of senior citizens whose age is above 80 years, like Robindra Nath Neog, Bani Kanta Saikia, Jatin Hazarika, Niranjan Hazarika, Cheniram Borah, Ananta Bharali, Robindra Nath Borah, Prafulla Borah, and Rongmon Borah.
