KOKRAJHAR: In a landmark development, Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly-built BTC EM and MCLA quarters located at Harinaguri near Baokhungri hills in Kokrajhar in the presence of BTC Chief Pramod Boro, Cabinet Minister UG Brahma, Deputy Chief of BTC Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, and other dignitaries today.
The Chief of BTC Pramod Boro said that the state-of-the-art quarters will provide modern and comfortable housing for EMs and MCLAs of BTC ensuring a better working environment to serve the people of BTR more efficiently. He also said that the inauguration of the new building of EMs and MCLAs marked yet another milestone in BTC’s journey towards peace and progress.
The new buildings in two blocks for Executive Members and MCLAs were built at a cost of Rs 100 crore (approx). The G+5 storey buildings with modern architecture and amenities have the provision of accommodating 60 MCLAs of BTC. The quarters for EMs and MCLAs were a long-felt demand of the elected representatives of BTC. The EMs and MCLAs of the BTC in the recent Assembly session expressed happiness to hear about the completion of quarter buildings. They thanked the CEM of BTC Pramod Boro for his step to complete these quarters within a specific time.
Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Deputy CEM Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, EMs, MCLAs, and senior officials of the BTC attended the inaugural ceremony, marking yet another milestone in BTR’s journey towards progress and development.
In another significant development, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also laid the foundation stone of the constitution of Administrative Building of Kokrajhar University at Harinaguri in Kokrajhar on the same day. For Kokrajhar University, a plot of 70 bighas of land has been allocated in the first phase at Harinaguri in the district.
