Assam: Combined Annual Training Camp 8 begins at Biswanath

JAMUGURIHAT: A ten-day 8 No. Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) convened by 5 Assam Battalion NCC under Tezpur group headquarter began at JNV Biswanath from May 3. Colonel Madhab Boro, Commanding Officer of 5 Assam Battalion NCC, delivered the inaugural address, as stated in a press release issued by Subedar Major Thanzamang Mate. Addressing the cadets, Colonel Boro spoke about the role of NCC in the nation-building process and the importance of NCC in character-building and personality development as well. He asked all cadets to focus on their prospective areas so that they can join national camps and represent the state in the national arena and those who are interested could join uniform services in the near future.

The camp which commenced on May 3 will conclude on May 12. This time, a total of 600 NCC cadets including 96 Senior Division, 151 Senior Wings, 190 Junior Division and 163 Junior Wings, 3 Associate NCC Officers (ANO) and 21 Permanent Instructors (PI) participated in the camp. During the camp, cadets will learn the basics of rifle handling, map reading, drill, fire discipline and fire control, field signal, and battle craft besides learning from lectures on national integration, communication skill, personality development, etc. It is to be mentioned here that a central lecture on cyber security along with motivational lecture and weapon display by Assam Rifles and lecture by NDRF will also be held.
