Assam: Dakhin Nagsankar HS Celebrates 41st Foundation Day at Samar Dalani

JAMUGURIHAT: The 41st foundation day of Dakhin Nagsankar High School, one of the pioneer secondary schools of Sootea-Jamuguri was observed on Tuesday with a day-long programme. The programme began with hoisting of the institutional flag by Anjan Baskota, chairman of the students’ union followed by offering of floral tributes by Bhabani Sarma, member of SMDC and lit up of a ceremonial lamp by Rishiraj Sarma, vice president of SMDC. The open session was held in the conference hall of the school with Chandan Upadhyaya, president of the SMDC in the chair. Ballav Chapagain, headmaster of the school offered a welcome address while Lila Kanta Sarma, former headmaster of the school inaugurated the session. In his inaugural speech Sarma traced the history of the foundation days and briefly presented about the academic excellence and achievement of the school as well. Colonel Madhab Boro, the commanding officer of 5 Assam NCC Battalion graced the foundation day as a chief guest.

Addressing the open session Colonel Boro asked the students to set a goal of life and try to achieve it. He asked them to be an ideal and honest person in their life so that they can become a good citizen and contribute to the process of nation building. Meritorious students who have passed the HSLC examination with flying colours were felicitated by the school authority and Trishna Devi, Yubraj Acharya, Sraban Powrel were awarded with Late Jagannath Dahal Memorial award, Late Uday Prasad Sarma memorial award, late Lilawati Devi and Damayanti Devi memorial awards respectively. Headmaster Ballav Chapagain and Pranay Newpane, general secretary readout the annual reports of headmaster and the general secretary respectively. Narad Upadhyaya, a retired teacher of the school who was awarded with the title Bani Ratnakar by the Lok Bhasha Prachar Samiti of the Kendriya Sanskrit University as Udishya recently was felicitated by the school authority.
