Assam: Dikhowmukh Health and Athletic Club Marks Silver Jubilee with Grand Celebrations and Awards

Health and Athletic Club, Dikhowmukh, Sivasagar, celebrated 25 years of promoting iron sports with a yearlong Silver Jubilee event.

GAURISAGAR: Health and Athletic Club, Dikhowmukh, in Sivasagar is one of the premier sports organizations working for the promotion and dissemination of iron sports for nearly three decades. On the eve of its completion of 25 years, the club organized a yearlong Silver Jubilee celebration. The two-days-long function ended successfully on Sunday.

The event started with a mass race inaugurated by prominent sports organizer Dhananjoy Saikia. Later, a drawing competition on sports was held. Thereafter, a workshop on sports-education-health and career was held. It was inaugurated by Dr Binay Kumar Medhi, Director, Student Welfare Department, Assam Agricultural University. Everest climber Naba Phukan, who was present as a resource person, explained in detail how sports help in health and career development.  Another resource person, Dr Pratim Sarma, Principal, Sibsagar Girls College, was present. The opening ceremony was attended by Dharma Kanta Mili, Additional Director, Jal Jivan Mission(JJM), Government of Assam, as the chief guest. Dharmakanta Mili said that sport is a force that can rule the world. Nowadays, sports have also become a tool to build a healthy society.

The event was chaired by the President of the reception Committee Pranjal Katoky and the guest of honour was Principal of Dikhomukh College Dr Ranjit Kumar Barua. The event was anchored by Hrishikesh Bharali. In the function, the lifetime achievement award was conferred to Haren Bhuyan, founder principal of Dikhowmukh College. The Dikhowmukhhitoikhi awards were conferred to Dharma Kanta Mili, Dr Pronoy Phukan, senior professor, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, noted poet and Chaitanya Neog, veteran sports person .The special inspiration awards were presented to Dr Raghunath Kagyung, Jitu Dutta, Hiren Dutta, and Pankaj Saikia. Youth Inspiration Awards were given to Sudarshan Saikia and Prabhas Protim Bharali. In the meeting, the souvenir, Krirangan, was published, edited by Utpal Sadhanidar and unveiled by Dr Pronoy Phukan.
