Haflong: Dima Hasao police rescued one truck driver Aldrington Mylliem (34) who was abducted by miscreant on late evening of March 31. Mylliem was abducted by unknown miscreants along NH 27 near Longkhor village under Maibang police station.

When truck owner Arun Kumar Sah attempted to call Mylliem but discovered that his phone was off, he tried again, and this time an unidentified caller identified himself as a member of the extremist group "Dimasa National Army." He also demanded Rs. 10 lakhs for the driver's safe release and threatened to kill the driver and set the car on fire if they didn't get their way.

On  Wednesday, Sah lodged a police complaint at Maibang police station to which police launched a massive search operation and on Friday rescued the abducted driver and arrested three persons involved in abduction.

Dima Hasao Addl. SP (Crime) informed media persons here that an investigation is ongoing and said that more person might be involved in connection with the case. He also said that the police team also recovered few weapons, but refused to divulge the details due to the ongoing investigation.
