SONITPUR: A one-day district-level workshop titled “Advantage Assam 2.0 – Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025” took place on February 10 at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Sonitpur. The event was collaboratively organized by the district administrations of Sonitpur and Biswanath, along with the District Industries and Commerce Centres (DICC) of both districts.

The workshop began with a multimedia presentation by Morgan Meston, general manager, DICC, Sonitpur, that expressed the central theme and other key aspects of the upcoming summit. This was followed by presentations by various departments, which represented their sectoral presentations in the districts, such as investment opportunities in critical areas such as agriculture, information technology, tourism, NABARD-supported projects, and animal husbandry.

Approximately 200 participants were drawn from Sonitpur, and about 100 from Biswanath. Industrialists, entrepreneurs, members of self-help groups and farmer producer companies along with the North Assam Chamber of Commerce participated in the workshop. The participants discussed their problems and asked for government help in developing infrastructure and facilities to carry out business.

Chief Guest Pijush Hazarika, guardian minister of Sonitpur district, graced the occasion. The chief guest exhorted the entrepreneurs to be in constant communication with the respective departments of the government to receive adequate support. The chief guest further assured the entrepreneurs that all issues would be sorted out. Dignitaries present included some MLAs of different constituencies, district commissioners of both Sonitpur and Biswanath, and the senior officials of the district administrations.
