Golaghat: District Commissioner  Pulak Mahanta-cum-Chairman, DRSC Golaghat chaired the 11th district Road safety Committee Meeting held on Friday at the DC conference hall, Golaghat. 

As per the discussion in the previous meeting, the chairman reviewed the action taken on the various road stretches from Numaligarh Tiniali to Baleshwar dhaba on NH- 37. He instructed the Executive Engineer of Roads owning agencies to check for side berms of roads and take up necessary measures before the festive season starts. The chairman  informed the house about the Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) to regulate the movement and organization of picnics etc. Helmet enforcement and drunk driving cases were discussed where the superintendent of police Rajen Singh stressed on the importance of reporting any accident in the district to the police stations and he requested the hospitals to do the needful wherever any patient is being admitted. The chairman again requested all concerns to put full attention on National Highway and all efforts to be put together to reduce accidents and drunken driving during this coming festival season. Apart from drunken driving, helmet enforcement, control of illicit liquor  and installation of speed breaker, road signages, condition of jail inmates etc. were also discussed in the meeting.
