DIBRUGARH: In a significant move, the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) has strengthened its Enforcement Squad by adding four new motorcycles to its fleet. Officials said the move aims to enhance the squad’s mobility and operational efficiency during enforcement drives across the town.

With better transportation facilities, the squad will be able to respond more swiftly to violations, carry out inspections, and ensure stricter implementation of municipal regulations. The DMC noted that the addition of these vehicles is part of its broader effort to improve civic administration and maintain public order in Dibrugarh.

The motorcycles will be deployed immediately to assist in anti-encroachment actions, monitoring of waste management practices, and other municipal enforcement activities. Authorities have expressed confidence that this upgrade will help in faster on-ground action, ultimately benefiting the residents of the town.

Meanwhile, the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) has reiterated its directive requiring all shops and business establishments to display signboards in both Assamese and English. This move aims to promote the local language and culture.

The corporation had initially issued an official order on September 17, 2024, instructing shop and business owners to include Assamese alongside English on their signboards within 30 days. However, many establishments have yet to comply, continuing to display signboards only in English.
