DIBRUGARH: The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Tinsukia Division carried out a thorough examination of the Dibrugarh Coaching Depot on July 15 as part of a coordinated effort to maintain safety and reliability standards in train operations. The inspection's major objectives were to review the depot's current working procedures and assess the efficacy of rake maintenance.

Accompanied by senior officials and technical staff, the DRM closely examined key operational areas, including coach cleaning, mechanical inspections, and turnaround procedures. The team interacted with on-ground maintenance personnel to understand the challenges they face and explored potential enhancements to streamline operations.

Speaking after the inspection, the DRM emphasised the importance of rigorous maintenance protocols for ensuring passenger safety and improving service reliability. The inspection also included checks on safety equipment, examination of record-keeping systems, and adherence to standard operating procedures.

To further improve efficiency and working conditions for the depot staff, recommendations were made. The initiative is part of Indian Railways’ broader mission to modernise infrastructure and ensure that maintenance facilities across the country meet the highest standards of performance and safety.

Meanwhile, Parag Katre took charge as the new Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Tinsukia earlier in April, succeeding Uttam Prakash, who completed his tenure from March 9, 2023, to April 24, 2025. Prakash handed over the responsibilities after overseeing key developments, including railway electrification and successful trial runs on the Dibrugarh-Mariani, Namrup-Duliajan, and New Tinsukia-Dibrugarh sections, paving the way for electric trains.
