
GOLAGHAT: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Golaghat Police carried out an anti-drug operation under Dergaon Police Station following a tip-off. During the raid, officials seized 74.79 grams of heroin concealed in a haystack, along with Rs. 65,330 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug dealings.
One drug peddler was arrested in the operation, and the police also seized a vehicle and multiple mobile handsets from the accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and other individuals involved in the network.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, a team led by SI (UB) Sagar Sah had intercepted and searched an e-rickshaw, recovering seven vials of a substance suspected to be heroin, weighing 9.33 grams, in Assam's Bongaigaon.
The driver, identified as Rakesh Hussain, who was a resident of Kali Mandir in Bongaigaon, had been apprehended. Necessary legal action had been initiated against him.
Similarly, in a major anti-narcotics operation, the Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) had intercepted a vehicle carrying a large quantity of heroin in North Guwahati’s Amingaon.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak led an operation that seized 600 grams of heroin worth about Rs 4 crore. The drugs were smuggled from Mizoram to Lower Assam and were hidden in a secret compartment of a truck with the registration number NL 01 AE 1147.
