
MORIGAON: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Laharighat Police raided Shantipur, Morigaon, Assam, and seized 1.23 grams of suspected heroin. Acting on reliable information, they arrested one person identified as Habibur Rahman.
The raid was part of an ongoing effort to curb the illegal drug trade in the region. Acting swiftly on the received tip-off, the police team surrounded the suspected location and successfully apprehended the accused along with the contraband.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against Habibur Rahman, and officials are investigating potential links to a larger drug network. Authorities have stated that efforts are being intensified to identify and dismantle any syndicates operating in the area.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, acting on secret information, an anti-drugs operation had been carried out in No. 3 Naba Betoni Bridge under Naojan Out Post of Sarupathar PS on Monday.
The operation had been led by Addl SP (Crime), Golaghat, along with OC, Chungajan PS, IC Naojan Out Post, PS staff, and the cyber cell team. Police sources said that during the operation, one drug peddler had been arrested. The arrested drug peddler had been identified as Raja Ali (26 years), son of Taj Ali, resident of Sarupathar Town, near Railway Station, PS-Sarupathar. Ten soap boxes of heroin weighing 105.73 grams had been seized from his possession. Police had to resort to blank fire to stop the accused, as he had tried to escape from the site.
