Silchar: Yet in another successful raid, the Cachar police seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs. SP Nomal Mahatta on Tuesday informed that based on a reliable input, a team of the district police intercepted a vehicle and seized a huge quantity of 40,000 Yaba tablets and 260 grams of heroin at Ramprasadpur near Dholai on the Assam Mizoram border. Mahatta said, tablets were concealed in the secret chambers of the car bearing no number plate. Futher 260 gms of heroin were kept in 23 soap cases. Market value of the narcotic substances would not be less than Rs 14 crore in the international black market.  One suspect had been arrested in connection with the seizure. The person was identified as Rakesh Singh, a resident of Kachudaram in Dholai. Mahatta said, the illegal consignment was being smgulled from Manipur’s Churachandpur. Meanwhile the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police department’s action on social media, highlighting it as part of the ongoing ‘AssamAgainstDrugs campaign’.
