JAMUGURIHAT: Trinayan Bora, a resident of New Center, Sootea and retired headmaster of Gyan Vikash Academy erstwhile known as Sootea Girls’ High School breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday night due to prolonged illness. He was 82. Bora, a prominent figure of the Sootea area especially in the field of education and socio-cultural life was closely associated with many organizations of the greater Sootea as well as the Naduar area. He retired from Sootea Girls’ High School as a headmaster in 2002. He was involved in social service with dedication. He was associated with the Sootea chapter of the Senior citizens forum, Biswanath district Senior citizens forum, Sootea central Bihu committee besides other organizations. His demise has cast a pall of gloom in the entire area. His mortal remains reached his Sootea residence this morning and was brought to Sootea Natya Bhawan. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika along with representatives of Sootea Nagarik Sabha, Senior citizens forum, Sootea Natya Samaj, Sootea Town Committee, Sootea branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Sootea chamber of commerce, Sootea Press Club, Sootea unit of AASU, Chatia College beside others paid homage to the mortal remains of late Bora. After that his body was brought to Gyan Vikash Academy, Sootea wherein teachers and students paid tributes.
Later on, the body was brought to Khanaguri, his birthplace for cremation. The commercial establishments were kept closed till 12pm. He leaves behind his two sons, a daughter along with a host of relatives.
