GOLAGHAT: Famous violinist and musician Manik Bora passed away at his residence in Golaghat on Thursday. A large number of well wishers thronged his residence paying tributes to him.
Dr. Ajit Baruah, a prominent essayist from Golaghat, said that Manik Bora, a prominent figure in the music world of Assam, has been removed forever. Manik Bora, who went to Calcutta and took music education, was able to establish himself in the music world of Assam and established his name first through the film ‘Mamata’ by the Late Shivprasad Thakur, a prominent film director of Golaghat. Apart from this, a music college named Rupban Kalakshetra was established in the music world of Golaghat and took over as the principal and took the responsibility of the principal and gave a variety of music education to many ones. He was honoured with the ‘Amateur Theatre Society Award, the highest honour of the Golaghat Amateur Theatre Society. He taught music to many musicians without any remuneration.
He had vast contribution to the field of musical, social activities. His death has been widely mourned by people of Golaghat and all the organizations of which he was a part. His well wishers and relatives expressed their grief by extending condolences to deceased family.
