NEW BONGAIGAON: A sudden fire broke out in an oil pipeline at New Bongaigaon Railway Station on February 22, prompting an immediate emergency response from local authorities. The unexpected blaze led to a swift mobilization of resources to contain the potentially hazardous situation.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Efforts are underway to determine the sequence of events that led to the pipeline fire.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene quickly. Firefighters worked fast to control the fire and prevent more damage. Their quick response helped reduce the impact.

With the fire under control, an investigation has started. Officials are looking into the cause of the fire and any possible risks to the railway. The results will help improve safety in the station and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, a devastating fire had broken out in the early hours of February 12 in Lumding’s Harulongpar area in Assam’s Hojai district, gutting four railway quarters and four commercial establishments at Charge Road, Last Colony. The fire, which was suspected to have originated from a business establishment, had been noticed by locals at around 4:30 AM.

The railway quarters in H-33 Block (A, B, C, D) had been completely destroyed, affecting railway employees Dulal Malakar, Debashish Roychowdhury, and Biplab Dey. The estimated loss was suspected to be over Rs. 40-50 lakh.

Firefighters from Lumding and Hojai’s Shankardev Nagar had doused the fire, but locals had said they arrived 45 minutes to an hour late. Fortunately, no injuries had been reported. The cause of the fire was still unknown.
