KOKRAJHAR: In a major jolt to the BPF, former MLA and existing President of Baksa district BPF Hitesh Basumatary has resigned from the position of district president and primary membership today citing personal reasons.
In his resignation letter, Basumatary said that he will not be able to work with the BPF due to his personal reasons. He thanked the party leaders and workers who worked selflessly with him and extended his best wishes to all.
Basumatary was EM of BTC during the Hagrama Mohilary regime for two consecutive terms and became MLA from Chapaguri LAC. He had left BPF due to internal differences with Mohilary and joined the PCDR but later re-joined the BPF. He was one of the hardcore BPF leaders.
Hitesh Basumatary is the 3rd high profile BPF leader to quit the party in the last four days. On Sunday, former Deputy Chief of BTC and BPF Vice-President Kampa Borgoyari deserted the party while organizing secretary Afzal Khan tendered his resignation on Monday, causing major cause of concern for the BPF.
