BAKSA: Former MLA Hitesh Basumatary, along with 400 BPF supporters, officially joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) today at a ceremony held at Durga Mandir, Mushalpur, Baksa.

Basumatary, who previously represented Chapaguri constituency, made the decision to leave the BPF and align himself with UPPL’s vision of peace and progress. This move highlights the growing trust in the party’s commitment to peace, progress, and good governance in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), warmly welcomed Hitesh Basumatary and the new members, emphasizing the party’s goal of building a peaceful, smart, and green Bodoland. The joining is seen as a significant step towards further strengthening UPPL’s influence and unity in the region.

Expressing his delight on social media, the BTR CEM wrote, "Delighted to welcome Shri Hitesh Basumatary, former MLA of Chapaguri constituency, who, along with 400 BPF supporters, has left BPF behind to embrace UPPL’s vision of peace and progress, today."

"His decision reflects the ever growing faith of the people in our party’s commitment to peace, progress & good governance in BTR. My heartfelt welcome to all who have joined us today—together, we will build a peaceful, smart and green Bodoland," he added.

Previously, former Deputy Chief of BTC and Vice President of the BPF, Kampa Borgoyari, along with over 400 supporters, including the presidents and secretaries of various block and primary BPF units under the 14-Chirang Duar constituency, had joined the UPPL in a grand ceremony held at Thaikajhora in Chirang district.
