Assam: Four arrested for teenage girl’s death in Barpeta Road

Four persons were arrested in the case of Papi Hazarika’s death as her body was recovered near the SBI in Barpeta Road on Tuesday.

DHUBRI: Four persons were arrested in the case of Papi Hazarika’s death as her body  was recovered near the SBI in Barpeta Road on Tuesday. According to reports, the deceased, Papi Hazarika of Majuli, had been staying in Barpeta Road in a rented house and on the day of her death, she had consumed excessive amounts of intoxicating substances.

To avoid trouble, the house owner, Urmila Devi, and others allegedly dumped the body near the State Bank of India.

Police, however, clarified that the young woman’s death was not a murder, rather due to consuming of excessive abuse substance.

The arrested individuals were identified as Anna Sheel, Bishal Sheel, Ajit Bhogat, and Urmila Devi. Police  produced them in the Barpeta court and sent to jail.
