GAURISAGAR: Gokul Chandra Gogoi, al freedom fighter, vice president of Sadou Asom Mukti Jujaru Sanmilani and Sivasagar Zila Sanmilaniand a resident of Jhanji Phulpanichiga Majumelia village passed way on Thursday due to prolong illness. He was 94. He was also a known as a goldsmith. He was also a active cultural activist and played the role of Gopi and several other characters in the Phulpanichiga Ras Festival. Having spread the news of his demise Sivasagar District Administration as well as Sivasagar Zila Mukti Jujaru Sanimilani gathered his residence. In the afternoon a shraddhanjali function was held where sivasagar District Commissioner Ayush Garg, District Superintendent of Police Shubhrajyoti Bora, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samiran Dutta, Demow Co District Commissioner Parth Pratim Khanikar, Amguri Revenue Circle Officer Arup Bikramia, Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Bodo and Deputy Additional Superintendent of Police Prakash Medhi ,Dennis Dutta, Block Development Officer, Gaurisagar Development Block Tirtheshwar Narah, Officer-in-Charge, Gaurisagar Police Station, Dhiren Chetia, Secretary, Sadou Assam Mukti Jujaru Sanmilani and Jogen Buragohain, Secretary, Sibsagar District Mukti Jujaru Sanmilani .The funeral was held near his residence No.1st Ligiri Pukhuri Battalion police paid their last respects to the freedom fighter with state dignity in the presence of hundreds of people. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
