Assam: Golaghat District APCU holds first inaugural executive meeting at Bokakhat

NUMALIGARH: The first executive meeting of the Golaghat District Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) was held at the Bokakhat Puwati Sahitya Sabha auditorium yesterday. The meeting was presided over by Bhabananda Kalita, President, and moderated by Parthapratim Saikia, Secretary of the district committee.

A resolution was passed demanding the naming of the newly-constructed inspection building and guest house of the Public Works Department in Bokakhat after Late Bhabesh Saikia, founder president of APCU. The resolution will be sent to the Chief Minister of Assam, the District Commissioner, and relevant departments.

The meeting aimed to provide Bokakhat sub-division with complete administrative facilities and demand the inclusion of Bokakhat in the railway map. Ensuring adequate doctor recruitment at the Bokakhat Civil Hospital was also discussed. Establishing a rest stop, drinking water facility, and toilet, as well as a modern police outpost at Numaligarh Tinaali, were also decided upon.

Conservation efforts for the remaining water bodies of the Rouduar Bil in Numaligarh and the installation of a plaque and statue of Swargadeu Gadadhar Singh at Kamargaon, starting point of the historic Dhudar Ali, were also agreed upon. A rest stop and statue in memory of Mohini Rajkumari, the first lady contractor of Assam, is set to be established on the Mohini Rajkumari road.

    The meeting also decided to organize a wildlife and nature-based journalism workshop for all journalists in Golaghat district and observe a memorial day in memory of Parag Kumar Das. The meeting was attended by journalists from various parts of Golaghat district, as well as central committee members, including Secretary Pranab Chakraborty, member Nabin Gohain, Advisor Uttam Saikia, District Executive President Pradip Kumar Bora, and guest Dr Babulal Mor.
