
GOLAGHAT: Acting on a tip-off, Golaghat Police carried out a raid at a house near Railway Gate No. 3 under Golaghat Police Station. During the operation, officers seized 9 tobacco containers containing heroin, weighing 8.73 grams. One suspect was arrested, and a handset was also recovered from the scene.
In a separate operation, police detained another peddler at Bengenakhuwa Chariali. Upon conducting a body search, authorities discovered 19 small-sized packets wrapped in paper and one plastic vial, containing heroin weighing 4.16 grams. Two additional handsets were seized during the operation.
Legal action has been initiated against the suspects, and further investigations are underway as per the law.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, acting on a tip-off, Golaghat Police successfully executed an anti-drug operation in Kulajan, within the jurisdiction of Merapani Police Station. During the operation, authorities seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including 420 SAMPEX+ capsules, 10 Nitrazepam tablets, heroin, cash, and mobile phones.
After the first seizure, the police conducted more questioning, which led to a second raid. In this raid, they found 753 SAMPEX+ capsules weighing 501 grams, 6 grams of heroin in a soap case, 9 mobile phones, and Rs. 5,63,345 in cash. They arrested one male and two female drug peddlers. Legal action was taken, and the investigation was still ongoing.
