PATHSALA: Movie and music lovers across Assam have called on the government to officially declare October 31 as 'Assamese Film & Music Day' in memory of the Late legendary singer, composer, and actor, Zubeen Garg.
The date holds deep emotional and cultural significance as it marks the release of Zubeen Garg's final film 'Roi Roi Binale,' a cinematic tribute that has moved audiences across the state. Many believe that this day should serve as a celebration of Assamese creativity, unity, and cultural pride, ideals that Zubeen Garg passionately embodied throughout his life and career.
Supporters said that dedicating October 31 to Assamese film and music would not only honour Zubeen Garg's unparalleled contributions but also inspire future generations to carry forward his mission of promoting Assamese art and culture on the global stage.
"Zubeen da gave his entire life to Assamese cinema and music. Declaring this day as Assamese Film & Music Day would be the most fitting tribute to his legacy," said a local youth while expressing his emotions outside of Sarma Talkies, a cinema hall in Pathsala.
As emotions continue to run high following the release of 'Roi Roi Binale' accompanied by rain across many parts of Assam, which fans poetically described as 'nature's tears,' the call for October 31 to be recognized as a permanent cultural observance gained strong momentum.
