SILCHAR: A Class 7 boy at Banskandi MV School in Assam's Cachar was severely injured after the headmaster of the school allegedly attacked him with a paper cutter during the ongoing Gunotsav program. The incident occurred in the Lakhipur education block school on Thursday, February 6.
The injured student, identified as Shahid Ahmed, required nine stitches for the wound to be closed and is currently being treated in a hospital.
According to witnesses, the headmaster positioned the blade close to the boy's throat, and the student injured his wrist while trying to defend himself.
Sahid's family members hurried him to the hospital in critical condition after the incident. After learning of the incident, the police showed up at the school and took the accused headmaster into custody. The victim's father filed a complaint against him after he was brought to the Banskandi police station.
Mazumdar, however, refuted the accusations, saying that the injury occurred accidentally when the student moved his hand while he was breaking up a quarrel between the students. He claimed that he even took the injured student to a pharmacy for first aid and that he had a cutter to break the seal on question paper envelopes.
According to sources, a number of middlemen are allegedly intimidating the family members of the victim and offering money in an effort to suppress the case. The case is controversial because the same headmaster has been accused of sexually harassing younger students in the past.
