
MORIGAON: In a significant operation, Laharighat Police Station (PS) conducted a raid in Amaraguri, leading to the recovery of 11.26 grams of suspected heroin. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mustafa Ahmed, Mirajul Ali, and Jushnara Begum. Legal proceedings are underway against the accused.
Meanwhile, a team of Basistha police personnel under East Guwahati Police District arrested a drug peddler, Manash Jyoti Medhi of Kerakuchi from Beharbari. The police recovered 12 vials of heroin weighing 16.17 gram. In another incident, Pan Bazar police arrested a drug peddler, Sahidul Islam, alias Babu, of Bilasipara. The police seized 22 vials of heroin weighing 29.43 grams from his possession.
Similarly, Tinsukia police succeeded in their mission against drug smuggling by arresting two smugglers and a local peddler on Friday. An operation led to the seizure of a large consignment of heroin that had been smuggled from Nagaland into Assam.
The prime accused, Bitu Gohain and Natey Ekka, were arrested at an eatery near the New Tinsukia Railway Station shortly after they had arrived on the Awadh Assam Express from Dimapur at 12:10 PM.
The operation had been carried out based on solid intelligence and was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tinsukia Nishant Saurabh, who had coordinated a large police contingent for the task. After their arrest, officers recovered four plastic bags containing heroin from the suspects' possession.
