GUWAHATI: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police intercepted a vehicle carrying huge quantity of heroin at North Guwahati's Amingaon. Led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak, the operation led to the seizure of 600 grams of heroin valued at about Rs 4 crore being smuggled from Mizoram to Lower Assam.

Contraband was found hidden in a truck with registration number NL 01 AE 1147, concealed in a hidden compartment. The search of the vehicle uncovered 50 packets of the illegal drug, and it is proof of the strategies employed by traffickers to avoid being detected.

A suspect, named Amir Hussain Khan, resident of Barpeta, has been arrested. Police sources suspect that Khan is one of the prime suspect involved in a massive drug racket operating within the region.

The Assam STF has increased its investigations against drug trafficking after the recent raids. It is trying to identify and prosecute all those involved in drug-related offenses.
