GUWAHATI: The Indian Army's Eastern Command successfully completed a week-long Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) field firing exercise at the Teesta Field Firing Ranges on March 6, 2025. The event was marked by the coordination of Infantry and Mechanised Infantry units, showcasing their tactical coordination and operational efficiency in mock combat situations. During the exercise, several ATGMs were fired, registering high accuracy against the target.

In order to provide a realistic training experience, the exercise included day and night operations, which enabled troops to attack targets at longer ranges, thus closely mimicking real battlefield conditions. The Mechanised Infantry troops showcased their capabilities by firing ATGMs from Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs), with the aim of proving their firepower and operational efficacy.

The massive exercise is one of the series of ongoing modernization efforts undertaken by the Indian Army, aimed at being combat-ready to face emerging security challenges. As the Army progresses through the 'Decade of Transformation,' such exercises are crucial for enhancing technological integration, precision warfare, and joint force capabilities.

Highlights of the exercise were precise targeting of armored targets, successful day and night operations, smooth coordination between Infantry and Mechanised Infantry units, and showcasing high combat capability. All these factors in aggregate help promote the Indian Army's vision for a strong and agile force that is ready for future challenges.
