Assam: Indian Army Outreach at Don Bosco, Guwahati Inspires 435 NCC Cadets to Join the Forces

GUWAHATI: As part of its continued efforts to connect with youth and raise awareness about career opportunities in the Indian Army, the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) Narangi conducted a comprehensive outreach programme on 23 July 2025 at CATC-75, 1 Assam Battalion NCC, hosted at Don Bosco School, Guwahati.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 435 NCC cadets, including 145 girls and 290 boys, all keen to understand the pathways to serve the nation through a career in the Indian Army.

The programme was graced by senior military dignitaries, including Brig AK Borah, VSM, Commander, NCC Group HQ, Guwahati, and Col Manohar Deshmukh, Commanding Officer, 1 Assam Battalion NCC.

Key Highlights of the Programme:

• An inspiring motivational lecture was delivered by the Director of Recruiting, Assistant Recruiting Officer, and a team from ARO Narangi, focusing on encouraging young aspirants to “Join the Indian Army”.

• The session covered a broad range of topics, including:

• Life in the Indian Army – operational experiences and facilities.

• Officer Entry Schemes and Agniveer recruitment features.

• Eligibility criteria for technical entries, including educational qualifications.

• Bonus marks offered for NCC, ITI, and sports achievements.

• Step-by-step guidance on the Common Entrance Exam (CEE), rally process, and use of the Join Indian Army (JIA) portal.

• Anti-touting and fraud awareness to safeguard candidates during the recruitment process.

• Career opportunities for women in the Indian Army.

The outreach aimed to not only inform but also motivate young cadets to aspire for a challenging and honourable career in the armed forces while clarifying doubts and busting myths around the recruitment process.
