GUWAHATI: In a swift and decisive action against illegal cross-border infiltration, Assam Police, under strict border surveillance, intercepted four Bangladeshi nationals while they were attempting to enter India illegally via the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rofiqul Kalam, Muskan, Abdul Rahman and Aktar Hussain. They were later deported as per rules. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the security forces on social media for their alertness in protecting the state’s borders.
Authorities have intensified surveillance along sensitive border areas, implementing stricter security measures to prevent unauthorized crossings.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Assam Police caught three Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, on January 28 while they were trying to enter India illegally near the India-Bangladesh border. The individuals, identified as Hubha S, Mithun S, and Pinki Molla, were arrested and later sent back to Bangladesh.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had praised the police for being alert and stopping illegal border crossings. On social media, he had said, "Strict vigilance along the border continues. In an alert move by @assampolice, 3 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended near the border trying to illegally sneak in."
CM Sarma had also talked about the effectiveness of border security, including the fencing along the India-Bangladesh border, which was nearing completion. He had assured that Assam was staying alert to prevent illegal crossings and had expressed concern about possible links between Pakistan’s ISI, terrorist groups in Bangladesh, and local groups in Assam.
